Complete Results from Today’s Meet

The 2012 Poland Invitational was contested with some 60 plus teams participating. The temperature did not get out of the 30s but all-in-all it was a good day; 2 records were broken in the boys 800 and 1600. Nicholas Pupino a senior from Copley set the 1600 meter record with a clocking of 4:18.00. In the 800 meters, Sean Poholski of St. Vincent St. Mary set the record at 1:57.07. Akron St. Vs girls won the girls team title going away with 119 points over 2nd place GlenOak(60). On the boys side a stron Austintown Fitch team captured the title scoring 81 points to 2nd place and newcomer to the Poland Invitational, Cleveland Heights (50) points. Taylor McDonald of Nordonia captured the running MVP award winning both hurdle events and anchoring the 2nd place 4 x 400 meter relay. She also won the Iron Bulldog Award for scoring the most points in the meet on the girls side. Va lentino Sewell, a senior, from Youngstown East had a strong performance capturing both hurdle events. He also won the Iron Bulldog Award as well as the MVP running award. . The girls field event MVP was Megan Tomei who won both the shot put and the discus. There was a three way tie for field MVP on the boys side among Jay Jakovina and Billy Price of Austintown Fitch and Stephen Lyons of Springfield. Each won an event and had a 3rd place finish. All-in all it was a great meet.

Team Tents Location for Invitational

This year the team tent area will be in the northeast corner of the stadium. Teams can pitch their team tents in that location. As previously stated the team buses will enter the parking lot nearest to the high school (east side of stadium). Your coaches packets will be available as you enter the stadium.

New Parking Plan for Poland Invitational.

This year all fans will park on the west side of the new stadium. This is the lot closest to Route 170. Team buses will park on the east side of the stadium closest to the high school building. The track has been resurfaced and the finish line has been moved to the west side of the stadium in front of the new home stands. A diagram is available under “Meet Information”.
